Poetry Pleases: The Breeze

In this short poem, Arthur Gilliland considers moments of quiet calm.

The breeze stirs the surface of the lake,
And the watchful willows
Lift their skirts and shake themselves.
Duck-bouncing ripples chase across
The steel-blue stillness;
Then calm returns.
But only for a moment;
Nature will not let
What nature seems to seek.
We, too, only may have
Brief moments of quiet calm
In our turmoiled lives,
To reflect on our creation.
