Poetry Pleases: Dreams
Renee Lowe present a fearsome drama in 13 lines of verse.
He watched her every night
Doing the Dance of the Seven Veils.
She smiled and flirted with all the men.
He could stand it no more.
Opportunity soon came.
She was all alone.
The knife went in and her blood oozed out.
How light she was as he carried her out.
Just a splash in the river and she was no more.
The police soon came and put him in jail.
Now his only pleasure is when he’s asleep
And he dreams of the girl who danced every night
The Dance of the Seven Veils.
