U3A Writing: Truth's Absolute
Truth is not sold in a sassy market place, says Irene Attwood's poem, reminding us of the strength of the absolute.
Not sold in a sassy market place
Not chosen for its label in the supermart
Neither be it some fly-by-night scheme
Nor gathered bits of this at a communal table meet
Neither slotted in a pre-packaged layby show.
No, truth stands quiet bold
Firm upon foundations laid
Centred from within absolute’s door
Where words mean more than life itself
Principled from pillars blood born
Invoked by the flow light determined saw.
