As she speeds along in her car, something touches the top of her head. A hand? A supernatural being? Alison Ross tells of a spooky occasion.
Hurtling along the twisting metal road at great speed I was anxious to get home to my husband and four children It was the end of a hot day and I was running late. The sun had already set and night was close.
Clouds of dust stretched out behind me. I had wound all the windows down before beginning my journey home, so it wasn’t unpleasantly hot with the country air sucking into the speeding missile I called a car.
I was enjoying the trip, when suddenly I froze…. Something was touching the top of my head. A hand? I was miles out in the country, and well over the speed limit, unable to stop.
I shrunk my head down into my shoulders, but still the hand remained on my head. Who was it?
I was driving like a rally driver with corners rushing at me I had both hands firmly on the steering wheel and my eyes on the road. There was no safe way to reduce speed except gradually. Who was in my car and how was it I had missed seeing anyone?
The hand stayed firm rising and falling as I moved my head. Was it Supernatural? Was someone from beyond the curtain of death trying to warn me to slow down?
Slowly I reduced speed, and finally it was safe to raise a hand off the steering wheel and adjust the rear vision mirror. I looked into it.
I was in a state of shock or I am sure I would have laughed. For there pressed firmly down on my head was the roof lining of the car. The speed I had been travelling coupled with the open windows had created a vacuum and sucked the lining down to press firmly against the top of my head.
My mystery passenger, didn’t exist!
