Here's Alison: The Little Cat
Yambo, the family's pet cat, after being hit and killed by a car, was ceremoniously buried. But the next morning there was a miracle... Alison Ross tells an astonishing true story.
Yambo is an African word meaning "little cat", and that was what we had called our much loved tabby.
Now disaster had struck our family pet. Yambo was dead!
We found him on the road, hit by a car. We looked at the body. There was no mistake. His ninth life had run out.
The children took it hard. We suggested a funeral..
Father dug the grave and we lined it with moss. With reverence, Yambo was wrapped and laid into the grave. A few words were intoned and then came the flowers. Each child had picked their own and laid them in the grave.
The funeral was impressive but we were all so sad. Yambo had been a lovely cat. Now he was gone. There is no doubt tears were shed in the night.
The next morning dawned fine and sunny, and at breakfast, the miracle happened. Back from the dead, in walked Yambo.
Could it be another Cat? "No" said the kids. Quick thinking brought forth an answer and the children were enlightened and happy with a lesson on reincarnation! Their beloved cat was back, minus one of his nine lives.
The thing that puzzled us adults was that not only were the markings identical on the cat we had buried, but Yambo had been missing all the previous day, something that had never happened before and was never to happen again during his long life.
We never did find out where the other cat had come from, but he had a beautiful funeral.
