Poetry Pleases: Your Eyes
To read the eyes is to read the soul, says Arthur Gilliland's poem.
Our souls are in our eyes.
To read the eyes is to read the soul.
When I read your eyes
I read the poetry of your soul;
The rhythm of your sadness, and your joy,
Pulses its way through peaks and troughs,
And slowly climbs and climbs
To an Everest of sweetness.
Let's 'stablish our souls on this high plateau
And not be shaken from a resolve
To live up here,
Among the friendly angels.
