Poetry Pleases: A Tale Of Ale

Derek Taylor's poem is a bright and breezy cautionary tale about ale.

There was an old man
We all thought was simple
Who had a great tan,
On his face a big dimple.

Maybe we were wrong
And not always right.
It didn’t take long
To see he was bright.

One day he fell down
In front of us all
In the middle of town;
He just missed the wall.

To make matters worse,
What made us all laugh,
Was he started to curse
Dog’s poo on the path.

The crux of this tale,
in case you don’t know,
Is just keep off the ale
Or we shall all know.
