: A Is For Antelope

Sallie O'Donnell, a retired teacher and businesswoman, became a published author at the age of 76. Her delightful book "Animals, Vegetables and Minerals - From A to Z'' was written to entertain children, while at the same time encouraging them to eat healthily.

The book is lavishly illustrated, but unfortunately we are unable to reproduce the illustrations in Open Writing. However we can bring you Sallie's entertaining, amusing and instructive rhymes, and we will be doing so week by week, from A to Z.

This week she introduces us to the long-legged antelope - and vitamin A.

Youngsters around the world could benefit from Sallie's brilliantly conceived guide to healthy eating. Her book is available from www.amazon.com Just type Sallie O'Donnell in the Amazon search box.

“I get vitamin A,” says
the long-legged antelope

“From a carrot or peach
or a very nice cantaloupe.

It’s good for my skin,
and it helps fight infection

And gives my teeth and
bones added protection.
