Bonzer Words!: The Lust For Life

Honor still the thrill of life, urges Frank Dawson in a poem which expreses rebellion against the ageing process.

Ah! Even' glow,
glowing in the coming night
touch the tender
cords of my soul
and fill me –
fill me with the gentleness of love.

Say not that I am old –
that is but a phrase –
a phrase time has made,
which is meant for those
who feel the weight of years –
those who have lost –
or never had –
the sense of youth.

Old I may be in years to some –
but to me –
I center not in time
but honor still the thrill of life
in all its capacities.
So all I ask is to be filled –
filled with the certainty of love
and the lust for life
to sustain me in the sacred glow of eventide.
