Here's Alison: Reasonable Access
The thoughts of a child who sits and waits reveal the true cost of a failed marriage in this poignant poem by Alison Ross.
I’m sitting at the window
Waiting for my Dad
He promised me he’d come today
And I’m feeling happy-glad.
I’m waiting by the window
Watching for my Dad
And Mummy’s going round
Acting kind of mad.
She says he will not come
And that’s something I will see
But I know that he will come
Cause my Daddy promised me.
I’m sitting by the window
And my puppy wants to play
But I tell her that I can’t
Cause I’m going out today.
I’m waiting by the window
And the hours are ticking by
If you don’t get here soon, Dad
I know I’m going to cry…
