Somehow the other two
In growing up
Seemed to demand all our attention.
And now
On holiday, with our young ones
I look at them
And wonder
Where did they come from
These two
Who once seemed designed
Just to fit in
Who now
Make decisions
Act stroppy
Are people in their own right
Not just shadows
Of the other two?
And I feel
Excited by the thought
That six take away two
Still leaves
A family.
