Open Features: Guardian Angel
Ellie Braun-Haley tells of a couple who discover that they have a guardian angel.
I was an instructor at a Young Writers Workshop. (My husband, Shawn and I had published two children’s books and we were both teaching courses in writing). During the lunch break one of the other instructors, Don, began telling us how his wife came to discover the name of one of her guardian angels.
Don and Bev were at a church revival meeting. A gentleman was moving throughout the congregation and he paused near Don and his wife. He said, “I see you have a guardian angel.” Then he moved on.
A bit later, this same man was back in the vicinity of Don and Bev. Again he spoke, “Does the name Stephan mean anything to you?”
They looked at one another and then at the man and they both replied “No.''
The man moved away, continuing to talk. Later, when he was near them for the third time, the man said, “Talk to your maternal grandmother.”
When an opportunity arose, the couple was visiting with the grandmother and asked her if she knew a Stephan. The grandmother spoke of identical twins born in Russia. One of them had died. His name was Stephan.
