She's Back Again: You Never Know
Lorraine Roxon Harrington says you are never too old to hang up a stocking on Christmas Eve.
Another year has now passed by
And Christmas is here once more
Memories return and I see again
Times I have lived before.
They were times when I felt happy
I never expected much
I just hoped that I would be lucky
And Santa would call on us.
We had a Xmas tree with coloured lights
It would glow and light the room
And we wanted it to stay forever
To take away the gloom.
So Xmas came around each year
We had food that was the best
Presents from all the family
Shared the fun and happiness.
There was good will there was friendship
There was love that brought us close
And we thought that it would last forever
For we were young and full of hope.
I know now there’s no Santa Claus
I have accepted there are no elves
I know that those are magic dreams
For little boys and girls.
I’m older now, the magic’s gone
And nothing is quite the same
But I think I will hang my stocking up
Just In case Santa calls again.
