And Another Thing...: No Daffodils
...The answer, I hear, is 'Plagiarize;
'Let no-one's words evade your eyes!'...
A country ramble spurs good-humoured Arthur Loosley into re-working a famous Lakeland poem.

I wandered lonely, as a clown
with painted smile and eyes tear-filled
and all of my defences down
but most of all, my heart felt chilled,
shaking and quivering in that place
apart from all the human race.
Alone beneath a stormy sky
I stood, in splendid isolation
in awe at its asymmetry;
the time was ripe for contemplation.
'What is this life if, full of care ….?'
(Sorry - wrong literary allusion there)
But how can I, of humble birth
and little learning, sad to say,
conjure up immortal words worth
uttering on this summer's day?
The answer, I hear, is 'Plagiarize;
'Let no-one's words evade your eyes!'
And so, dear readers, if you please
(or even if you don't, my dears)
with head bowed low and on my knees,
I beg you through this veil of tears,
forgive this poet's indolence;
it was all said in innocence.
