Bonzer Words!: White Violets In The Grass

Judith Joyce Poe's poem looks forwards to spring time.

There’s white violets in the grass
Winking at me as I pass.
In the early morn’ for walking
While to my pal I’m talking
As we wander through the pines
Seeing more of springtime signs.
There he roams, my pal Buddy
Paws all wet with dew and muddy
Ever sniffing, ever sniffing, ever sniffing
Stopping now and then to do his marking
Then onward off we go
As we wander to and fro.

It’s a morn’ that makes one glad
Roaming there in jacket clad
It’s a morn’ that makes one happy
To be strolling quick and snappy
While your pal looks back to egg you on
And your soul bursts forth in vibrant song.

Yes, white violets in the grass
Is what brought this song to pass
A springtime chorus that is heard
In every flower and chirping bird.
Sing on, my soul, your joyful song
God’s in his world forever long.
