Here's Alison: Lie To Me
Alison Ross's poem reveals a fact of nature - a mother knows the heart and mind of her own son.
Lie to me, ‘bout anything else
But I’ve lived too long, you see
To believe that you are happy son
So please don’t lie to me.
Tell me you’re successful
Tell me all is well
But don’t tell me that your marriage
Is anything but hell.
A man who is afraid to laugh
A man who shuns his kin
A man who justifies his ways
That man never wins.
So lie to me about your job
Or lie about your plan
But never try to tell me son
That you’re a happy man!
