Here's Alison: Say Goodbye My Darling

When couples go their seperate ways other relatives are engulfed by waves of sadness, as Alison Ross's poem reveals.

Say goodbye to the family Darling
You don’t belong anymore
His new girl has got her foot
More than halfway through the door

Give us a smile my Darling
Then say goodbye and go
Don’t tear us in half with your heartache
For we really cant bear to know.

There just isn’t room in the family
For both you and our son
He’s chosen himself a new love
And she’s got to be the one

To share all our get-togethers
To party…or grieve with the rest
So now that you know the story
It may be all for the best…

She’s so different from you my Darling
We will have to applaud his new friend
Stop saying you love him my Darling
And accept that this is the end!

Your tears are breaking our hearts lass
All those years that we’ve loved you so
We’re all dreading to meet his new love
For we simply can’t bear you to go….

We will pray for you my Darling
That soon you'll find a more worthy beau
And you’ll be so glad my darling
That this one, let you go…
