Poetry Pleases: Please Send Me Your Word

Masimba Biriwasha's poem brings to life the power of the word.

Please send me your word
Its a fire that pierces my soul
Sending sweetened needlepricks
That arouse butterflies within my heart
To caress the word
To see something new, born
A poem or two -

Please send me your word
Into my depths, your word reaches
To breathe upon my roots
A fresh breath, an incense

Please send me your word
For it springs from within my bones
A touch of the heavenlies
It fills my wings, and then I soar
Towards the shining star
That speaks to something deep and ancient
Inside my bones

If you do give me your word,
I give you but one promise
A day, a poem
A poem, a poem.
