Poetry Pleases: Thunderstorm Banquet
Caroline Glyn's poem celebrates one of Nature's fearsome wonders.
The gods are feasting, they are playing games;
Leaping, wrestling, running.; their triumphant shouts
Echo through the heavens; rip the clouds apart
Then thunder them together once again.
Feasting on Mount Olympus, their fiery wine
Trickles through the clouds; sets them afire.
They flare up; light the whole black sky red;
Burning with Hell's fearful atmosphere.
It dwindles down to ashes; fades away
To the cold, unearthly glow from coming Dawn.
