In summer dress and hat of straw
trimmed with phlox, smiling still
to a fair young man with Brownie Box
They climb together,
laughter as one, without a care,
as if the world and I are not there,
and now they're gone
A youthful, happy, twenty-one
thro' faded sepia still smiles on,
as I return my mother to her cherished box of rosary,
birthday cards of lavender, and pressed forget-me-nots
