Cicadas singing in the sycamores,
Pavement hot and the open doors,
Screens loosely set.

Sprinklers,
Ch, ch, ch, ch, chicking;
Children jumping,
Wet and dripping,

Dodge ball,
Kick the can,
Hide and seek,
Amongst evening firefly light.

Slipping finally,
Into cool, crisp sheets,
To dream,
Of another summer day

Vacation.
