U3A Writing: Say Good Morning

Jim Moore's poem tells of a travelling man - and a cup of tea to warm the soul.

The air is cold,
The swag is warm,
Say good-morning to the river.

The grass is wet,
As out I get,
Say good-morning to the river.

Rake up the coals,
And start a fire,
Say good-morning to the river.

Sit hunched and watch,
As flames build up,
Say good-morning to the river.

A cup of tea,
To warm the soul,
Say good-morning to the river.

The sun sneaks up,
At last it's dawn,
Say good-morning to the river.
