Bonzer Words!: Nature's Gems

A country lad has riches beyond gold and silver, as Jan Rodman's poem reveals.

A country lad born and bred
A farmer
The land was in his veins
He didn't want for gold or silver
Or dream of finding hidden treasures
He was already rich
His treasure chest was full of jewels
Rubies in the rich red soil
Diamonds sparkling on the cobbled creek beds
Gold from the rising and setting sun on the horizon
Silver glistening as falling rain
Emeralds green and sweet as the grass
Sapphires bright and clear in the wide blue sky
For anything more, he did not ask.
His treasure chest was filled
With nature's gems.
