Poetry Pleases: Words For A Very Special Girl
Ken Patterson wrote this poem for his granddaughter Haven, who was then five years old.
Somebody will tell you about the birds and the bees
The grass, the bushes, the plants, the trees
Somebody will tell you about tall ships
Of years gone by and how and why
they sailed the seven seas
with the help of the stars in the sky.
Somebody will tell you about words in books
Like Peter Pan and Captain Hook
Somebody will tell about rising tides
The man in the moon,
Why lightning strikes when clouds collide
Somebody will tell about Christmas time
Holly around the door
Somebody will tell you all these things
Then when you desire more
Ask somebody - called Daddy
Hell tell you things galore.
