U3A Writing: Four Haiku
Here are four haiku from Joyce Hinchliffe. Quick in the reading, long in the thinking.
The Alchemist
Harvester Dragon
Magically turning base grain
To gold for his horde.
*
Autumn Light
Brash Coppersmith Sun
Burnishes the cactus spines,
Bronzes the horses.
*
Summer’s End
Year’s enchanted youth,
Innocent of dark, raw days.
Autumn breaks the spell.
*
The Gift
Late Summer brings thrips,
Sacrificial confetti,
To Autumn’s party.
