U3A Writing: The Teapots
Elwyn Frankel’s poem tells of a grandma who takes care when she makes tea.
My dear little teapots, they sit on the shelf.
Of them I have quite a collection.
All sizes and colours, they make a good brew.
My visitors can have their selection.
The young ones call in, and they boil up the kettle.
They can’t understand what I’m doing
As I measure the leaves and warm up the pot,
They look at each other and giggle.
“Say, Grandma, whatever is all of the fuss?
Just throw in a tea bag and jiggle.”
