Christmas Every Week: Christingle

Arnold Kellett wrote these words for children holding up cards at Christingle services, each saying a sentence of the acrostic - an explanation of the orange with candle and red ribbon.

Christ for the world, the orange shows,
His the one true light;
Red the ribbon of his blood,
In love he bought our right:
Sins shall now be all forgiven
Through Good Friday's sacrifice,
Interfusing earth with heaven,
News of peace and paradise!
Goodness crowns our Christmas feast,
Lovely fruits of all the earth ...
Every grateful Christian heart
now celebrates the Saviour's birth.
