A friend of mine, G_, told me recently about an artisan that had to drive from the workshop in town to deliver a much needed spare part to No 1 Plant late one afternoon. He had never driven up that way before so didn’t really know the roads. Unfortunately the fog was so thick that he couldn’t see a damn thing. After driving for what seemed forever, he finally got to a point where he could go no further, due to a gate across the road barring his path. There was a little guard post there and when the security guy came out to check who it was, he was told that he was at Chameis Bay security gate; about 25 km north of No 1 plant.
Somehow he had managed to drive past No 1 plant with about a million lights and lit up like a Christmas tree, past Affenrucken single quarters and hostel and carried on to Chameis Bay further up the coast. I reckon if the gate hadn’t of been there, he would have ended up at Luderitz 100 km away.
