Studied Dresden Conservatoire (piano, later changing to singing.)
Adult life
Debut there 1915 in Zigennerbaron. Debut New York Met 1922, staying there till 1944, singing Aida, Desdemona, Eva, Sieglinde & Donna Anna. She created the title role in Strauss' Die Aegyptische Helena Dresden 1927.
She had a pure style & beautiful tone. She also made many concert appearances.
She retired in 1942.
She died 6th June 1976 in New York aged 81.
