'My philosophy,' said Sir Reg Vigar, 'is to put people first. . . Always has been, always will be... And when I say people I mean people.'
'Any questions, folks?' asked his new press officer, Vic Greete.
'Yes,' said Rick Frankly, of the Daily Blare.
'State your name and paper, please,' said Vic Greete.
'Christ, Vic, you know who I am. You used to work with me.'
'Yes, but -'
'0h, for god's sake get on with it,' said Sir Reg Vigar. 'I've a global company to run ... I can't sit here all day, listening to you lot faffing about. .. Now, what's your question, Mr, er...'
'Frankly,' whispered Vic Greete.
'Mr, er, Frankly,' said Sir Reg Vigar. 'Speak up, please, I can't hear you.'
That's because I haven't said anything yet.'
'Oh god,' groaned Vic Greete.
'May I intervene?' asked Elspeth Appleton, from the City pages of the Daily World.
'Well, I'd rather we gave Rick . .. er, Mr Frankly, the first go,' said Vic Greete, 'and then perhaps you can come in with your - '
'But it's only a teeny-weeny question,' purred Elspeth.
