Very interesting story about the councillor, who happened to be my grandfather James Wilkinson. He was indeed a staunch tee totaler. I had not heard the details of the christening of the fire engine before. The name plate was indeed above his door at 1 Holmefield Drive in Golcar where I used to go as a kid. He was the manager at Scape CoOp.
I expect to be up at Scape visiting in early January. The tee total tradition stopped at my father Joe Wilkinson, also the manager of the Coop.
