About Our Words: Trappers

Amie Evans, who is studying in school the early days of coal mining, was horrified to learn that children under the age of 10 worked in British coal mines.

Amie writes:

I read this article because I am learning about trappers in school. Ienjoy the study and I feel pity for those children who did not see daylight, getting up early and returning home late. Ifthey saw daylight they wouldprobably go blind. And their poorlittle toes! What if they got jammed! I would havecied if I had been down there at the age of four. I would have been really scared.

Thank you for reading my comment.
