Fast Fiction: Adventure
When you take a wrong turn and find yourself in the middle of a housing estate surrounded by lads on bikes...well its a case of who you know, as Richard Mallinson's tale reveals.

The four of them turned off the usual path and soon found themselves in the middle of a housing estate.
'What are we doing here?' asked Lena, a teacher.
'Well, it just sort of happened, didn't it?' said Greg, who worked in a bank.
'I suggest we get the hell out,' said Martin, a trainee salesman.
'I grew up ere,' said Donna, a barmaid.
Suddenly they were surrounded by teenagers on bikes.
'Wot you doin ere?' one of them asked.
'Don't say,' said Donna. 'That's wot they want, an argiment.'
Martin ignored her. 'We're, er, just walking through,' he said.
'Silly bugger,' whispered Greg.
'I said not to, dint I?' said Donna.
'You lookin fer trouble?' another biker asked.
'No, we're looking for a way through,' said Lena, moving forward. 'Actually, I think I know you . . . You were in my class once, weren't you?'
'So wot if I wus? . . . Oh, it's you Miss. Oh, I didn't recognise you, with that eadscarf an wellies on. You used to be such a -'
'Such a what?' asked Greg, cutting in. 'What did she used to be?'
'A dazzler, that's wot.'
'Oh, now, now,' said Lena. 'Perhaps you will escort us out of here?'
'Yus, o course, Miss. Just foller me . . .'
'Well,' said Lena when they were back in the town centre, having coffee at the usual place, 'that was quite an adventure, wasn't it, Donna?'
