About Our Words: Seed Cake And Parkin
Beryl of Lanashire expresses a tasty appreciation of the recipes presented in Open Writing by David Craven.
Beryl writes:
These recipes really brought back memories of my childhood and I have used some of them several times.
The Lancashire parkin didn't quite live up to the really black sticky stuff my Mum used to make but still tasted acceptable.
The seed cake is excellent though as is the lemon curd. These were much appreciated by the ladies at my local Women's Guild.
Any more recipes for parkin that may live up to Mum's recipe? I'm desperate!
