Western Walkabout: Grog-Free Day
Richard Harris tells of his determination to avoid the doctor’s wrath.
I’m having a grog-free day
My cat being wise, very wise,
Keeps well out of my way.
My tongue’s a whip, mouth a vise
What’s this all in aid of?
The doctor told me, mate,
Lay off the alcohol
Before it’s too late.
It sets up arthritis
In older guys like you.
You need to see the light is
All I ask you do
Have five grog-free days is all
For your blood pressure to fall.
So now I’m on Day Two
Hip hip hoo roo
With any luck at all
I won’t stumble or fall
From this narrow chosen path
To escape my doctor’s wrath.
