North American Dreaming: Mesmerized
What is it that mesmerizes poet William Burkholder?
Mesmerized,
blinded to sight, sound,
confectionery delights,
chocolate!
Consumed by large sensuous lips
wet!
Brown pools staring,
sweet tooth aching,
for just another bite.
Just another hint
of the flavor, the scent,
the flow of this secret treat.
Across my lips, dripping, dripping,
dripping on my tongue.
Mmmm, the flavor,
heaven.
