Christmas Every Week: Christmas Visits

Arnold Kellett’s poem has advice on how to deal with Christmas visitors.

'Nice to see you! Glad you've come!'
The greetings sound sincere:
But inwardly there must be some
Who wish their guests weren't here.

We're social beings, yet we tire
Of over-population;
Space and time we all require
And room for relaxation.

Yet though we'd like a bit of peace,
Our cosy home's precarious:
Like cackling, fattening Christmas geese
We've got to be gregarious.

But let's make Yule-tide welcomes bright,
Our pleasure frankly showing:
Just think of this: the sheer delight
Of when we see them going!
