Away With Worry: The Water Lily

Angela Black sees profundity in a single flower.

Wending bending drifting sifting slowly
Imperceptibly
Through sand soiled sedge coiled yellow leaf light
Limp lifelessness
Point stretching up retching heaving tip cleaving then glory
Sudden glory
Clean air cleft air white spear light sheer shaft light
Self fulfilment
A lilting tilting singing swinging wave flow
Molten gold flow
Then nesting a resting on a new found leaf lap
Soft lull lap
Unfold now petal tension taut stigma lax lax
Relax now

Resurrection
And a long navel cord winding bind to a death bed
Forgotten now
But a sap seeking thirst stirs down to the mud bed
Dim grave light
Flows back from the sedge slime sap from the leaf mould
Unremembered
Strata of concrete mosaic marble clay limestone granite
All lily mould
