About Our Words: Guinea Gold

Bob Warren from Palatine, Illinois, USA, associated with an article by Eric Shackle about Guinea Gold, a wartime publication.

Bob writes:

My father-in-law, Bill Terbovic, was in the 208th and 745th Anti-Aircraft Battalions -- first stationed in Townsville, then moving with the advancing forces through Papua New Guinea to the Philippines. He managed to send pictures and letters back to his wife in Pennsylvania, and included some issues of the American edition of Guinea Gold (those that survived in her scrapbook are mostly from 1943).

I enjoyed the article -- gave me some context for how he might have gotten the paper while fighting at the front and why he saved those issues.
