Dusk To Dusk: The Truth Of Consequences

Michael B Poyntz's poem emphasises that a lie can change the future of a life.

Have you ever caught
someone you love
in a lie that
they whispered suddenly
a lifetime of conversations
past and present
is no longer
and can no longer be
the same again
ever

So much history
cast to the wind
for so little
a promise once forgotten
becomes unforgettable
the difference between
a lie that you hear
and the truth

Is every thing
you ever were
forever

Have you ever
been caught
by someone you love
in a lie
that you whispered
suddenly
a lifetime of dreams
present and future
will never be
and can never be
the same again
ever

So much future
lost to the wind
for so little
a covenant once vanquished
becomes unforgiveable
the difference between
a lie that you tell
and the truth

Is everything
you will never be
forever
