Away With Worry: Mimi Gives Me A Bone

Angela Black brings us another poem for children.

When Mimi gives me a bone she says
"Now eat it, don't hide it, d'you hear?"
I wait til she's gone; I know it's forbidden
But I know she likes my "winning ways".

So when she comes back, and looks, and says
"where's that bone?" I simply gaze
Wide eyed in amaze. "What bone?
What bone indeed? You know it's hidden"
But Mimi smiles because Mimi knows

The bone will get found when no-one's around,
And eaten too; that's what dogs do.
Everyone knows dogs bury their bones.
And hiding is secret, that's the way it goes.
And Mimi knows tha I know she knows
But we still have fun with the games we play.
