Hurray For Sam Pepys!

Milions of people worldwide keep diaries. Most diarists stay recording their days on January 1st, then run out of steam before January 31.


Samuel Pepys began his diary on January 1st, 1660, sticking to the task for a decade - and right glad we are that he did so. His daily record of his life has brought rich entertainment to discriminating readers down the years. In this 21st Century it continues to do so.

Beginning on January 1, 2012, Open Writing will regularly publish selected entries from the greatest diary ever written.
