...At the first opportunity to get away from his mother he went to the apple house and cautiously looked inside. He had seen inside there before. Nothing much to see except slatted shelves lined with straw. As he pushed the door, some straw fell from the open hatch above him and he heard movement. Somebody, or something was up there!
