Poetry Pleases: Johnny

Betty Shorting's poem features a lass who is all too willing to say goodbye to Johnny.

(Based on Goodbye Johnny)

Goodbye Johnny, you must leave me
And Iím glad to see you go.
All those things that you got up to
Means the law is bound to show.
Hark! I hear the sirens wailing
And you can no longer stay.
Goodbye Johnny, you must go now.
Be quick and on your way.

Goodbye Johnny, I might see you.
When youíre shut up tight in jail.
The boys in blue will soon be here now;
I can hear their sirens wail.
Your wicked ways have betrayed you
So Iím giving you the boot.
Goodbye Johnny, nice to know you.
Now Iím off to spend the loot.
