Poetry Pleases: A Cautionary Tale

Mike Eastwood writes a rollicking poem about two drinking men, Bob and Ted - paying due obeisance to the rhythm of the children's poem Jack and Jill.

Bob and Ted went to the pub
As soon as they were able
They drank all day and drank all night
And finished under the table

Up Ted got and dropped his pot
And staggered out the doorway
He left his mate, for t was too late
Hed have to fetch him Sunday.

Still very drunk when he got home
He bought his wife some flowers
But she was cross as cross could be
And ranted on for hours.

So off Ted went back to the pub
As fast as he could double
He drank all day and drank all night
To keep him out of trouble
