Poetry Pleases: How Time Flies

In the blink of an eye Rosemary Mitchell turns a cliché into a poem.

The eyes blinked.
Time flew.
No good-byes.
The past slipped slowly into an open grave.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
We turned away that grey day.
Scraped muddy shoes.
Thought of you.
Wiped tears from the eye.
Sighed one more sigh.
Turned our back on that day.
You’d gone before.
We’ll not forget the friend you were.
The way you lived and died.
We’ll remember with the blink of an eye
How time flies!
