Poetry Pleases: Fateful Sunrise

Miriam McAtee writes of a dawn which brings hope and the will to carry on.

For one brief moment I encountered Dawn
She drenched me with colour
then was gone.

Afterwards my life was never the same again
She awakened Hope, chased Despair
soothed and healed as over the horizon she came.

My life had been full of loss and pain
Never thought Id could face a new day again
then Dawn came.

She washed me and cleansed me of blame and shame
When she left, I was bereft
but I could crawl again.
