U3A Writing: Another Birthday

Ray Harmanís poem celebrates the many activities and study groups offered to members of the University of the Third Age. Ray is a member of Malden and District U3A.

It`s come again and much too soon
Third Agers moan with some gloom
Another Birthday`s come along
With youthful memories long since gone
But think what joy the year has brought
With new groups formed and members sought
Aviation raised its head
And Biggles proved no longer dead
Old father time has had his share
Of members with that clockwork flare
And those who travel distant shores
The French and German could be yours
Sing For Pleasure with good voice
But if Painting calls you have a choice
Now Scottish Dancing, there's the thing
Who wants to do the Highland Fling
But if legs are frail and not that strong
A game of Bridge can do no wrong
If Writing Stories be your bent
Then Wartime Memories are heaven sent
The world at times may look a sight
Discussion Group will put it right
Yet from the many groups I've missed
There must be something on the list
So Happy Birthday have good cheer
And thank your stars you're here this year
Young at Heart.
