Studied at London Opera centre and with 0. Kraus . Covent Garden debut 1972, has sung as Donizetti's Raimondo, Mozart's Sarastro & Boris Godunov. Has also sung at Paris Opera, La Scala Milan, many German houses & San Francisco.

His imposing voice serves well as Gurnemanz in Parsifal & Verdi's Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra.

He is still alive.
