U3A Writing: I See Dragons

Jim Moore’s poem tells of troubled dreams.

I see dragons in my sleep,
I see monsters all around,
I see demons in the deep,
In the air and on the ground.

Perhaps I had a troubled childhood,
Too much strife and lack of love,
Too much time to sweat and brood,
No time to get into the groove.

Now I need to wave them off,
Tell them I'm not scared at all,
My life is my own and I can scoff,
The dragons now are at the wall.

The monsters were in my dreams,
And cannot reach me now,
But when a child they seemed,
to rule my life any how.
